MEET THE ARTIST

Lee Windeyer is an Australian artist, born in Sydney, but now living in Bowral, New South Wales. Working primarily in acrylics and ink, her works are abstractions inspired by human experience and the natural environment.

Over her life Lee has worked in nursing and midwifery and raised her 3 children, while dipping into and sometimes immersing herself in various fields of arts. Most intensive of these has been designing and patchworking quilts over a period of some 30 years, which has heavily influenced her use of pattern, movement and colour.

Over many years Lee attended various painting art courses. More recently, Lee has intensively devoted herself to painting, attending art classes and workshops at Bowral District Art Society and slowly developing her current style, while building up a body of work. She has gone through different stages of painting, using acrylics, oils, ink, rice paper, collages and others mixed media.

Her current series of work is all about the 5 stages of life: birth, babyhood, childhood, adulthood and death. In this series, Lee has drawn on her strong feeling of empathy with all 5 interconnected stages of life, enhanced by her background of midwifery, nursing and motherhood.
